The good news is that the rate of survival from cancer has increased substantially over the past 25 years and NSW is now among the best in the world. While it is reassuring to see more people surviving cancer than ever before, we still have a long way to go. Cancer Council has committed more than $16 million to cancer research this year. Unfortunately we still have to turn away half the worthy research projects we receive, any one of which could hold the key to the next Breakthrough.
We are grateful for our Breakthrough supporters who are helping so many people, both today through much needed cancer support services, and in the future through cancer research.
Our partnership
Cancer Council’s face-to-face program is known as Breakthrough, because our supporters are taking us one step closer to our next breakthrough. The Breakthrough program has raised more than $30 million for Cancer Council NSW in the last 8 years. The Fundraising People play an important role in our face-to-face program by inspiring more regular supporters every day.
Our Future
Regular giving is so important because it gives Cancer Council the financial stability to dedicate funds to life saving research, prevention programs, and support services. Ongoing monthly donations will help us to fast track promising research across all cancers, and hopefully provide Breakthroughs in the fight against cancer.
